Snippets
Snippets are bits of text you can reuse across Chibi. Craft a library of pre-defined text, prompts, etc. to save time. Or install from our preset library. Groups organize your snippets (like folders).
Filter - when you have a lot of snippet groups, or snippets in groups, this filter helps you find what you're looking for.
Favorite - you can favorite snippets. Then when you toggle this button only the favorited snippets show in the panel.
Workspace - you can assign snippets to workspaces. Then when you toggle this button only the snippets assigned to the workspace you're in will show.
Help - opens this help guide you're reading now
Toggle Overlay - this will change the panel between overlay mode and sidebar mode. Overlay mode gives you more space on smaller screens if needed.
Re-Sync - if you work across different browsers and notice some snippets show in one but not the other, hit re-sync to load the latest from the database.
New - creates a new snippet group.
Rename Group and Change Color
When a group is closed you'll see the pencil button, click this to rename and set the color for the group.
Create a New Snippet
To create a new snippet first click the group you want to create it within. The group will "open" and should look something like this:
Click the green plus button to create the snippet. This will create a new snippet and open the snippet editor:
Set the name of your snippet and optionally apply tags/workspaces.
Click next and enter the text you want in the snippet.
Don't forget to save once you're done.
The Snippet Editor
The snippet editor is where you create and edit snippets. It is opened when you create a new snippet, or when you click a snippet to edit.
Across the top of the editor (left to right) you have:
The name of the snippet
Copy Export Code - useful if you want to duplicate this snippet, or share with another Chibi user.
Settings - where you can add tags or assign the snippet to workspaces
Save button
Close button
Importing Snippets
After you copy an import code for a snippet (either by clicking the "Copy Export Code" button in the editor, or copying a code shared by another Chibi user... with the code still in your clipboard, click this import button.
The snippet will immediately be imported into the group you chose.
How to Use Snippets
Snippets are passages of text you find yourself using often. Rather than typing them out every time you can use snippets.
After you have created a snippet, you can quickly copy it using the button to the left of snippet.
